Our Mission

In the spirit of Pennsylvania Hospital’s historic mission, the First Hospital Foundation supports programs that improve the health of vulnerable and underserved populations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

The First Hospital Foundation has a secondary mission to support the preservation of the historic artifacts and memorials of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Our Vision

The First Hospital Foundation envisions a community where all populations, including the most vulnerable, have access to high quality health care and support services that are delivered in an effective and efficient way.

Our Value Statements

Stewardship
The First Hospital Foundation approaches grantmaking strategically by partnering with nonprofit organizations whose missions are aligned with ours. We believe that together we can be more effective in finding solutions to the underlying causes of health disparities and address gaps in health care services to vulnerable populations.

The First Hospital Foundation believes that working collaboratively with nonprofit organizations and other funders will increase our collective ability to advance knowledge in the field and make a positive difference in the health of vulnerable populations.

Strengthening Capacity
The First Hospital Foundation is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of its grantees to meet their missions. Providing both program and operating support to nonprofit organizations is a means of reinforcing the organizational infrastructure necessary to sustain and enhance their core programs.
