Types of Grants
The foundation generally provides grant support over one to three
years as deemed appropriate to the nature and scope of each applicant’s
request.
While the foundation does not specify a minimum or maximum grant
amount, the average grant award over the past three years has been
approximately $40,000. The amount of grant funds an applicant may
request may not exceed 10 percent of a nonprofit organization’s
total operating budget.
The following grants are available:
Program Grants
The foundation primarily supports the development and expansion
of programs that address the foundation’s priorities.
General Operating Support
The foundation may provide general operating support to well-established,
financially sound, high-performing organizations that have received
funding from the foundation over three or more years and have
met or exceeded program goals. General operating support will
not exceed 10 percent of an organization’s annual budget,
or $50,000 annually, whichever is less.
Prior to submitting an application, organizations applying for
general operating support should contact the foundation to discuss
the organization’s needs.
Multi-year Grants
The foundation may approve a limited number of multi-year (two-
or three-year) grants subject to at least annual review, approval
of grantee progress, financial performance and the availability
of foundation funds. Support in any one year does not commit
the foundation to continue funding such grants in subsequent
years.
After the first year, multi-year grant recipients must submit
a continuation application for each subsequent year of funding.
The continuation application must be in the form of a progress
report that adheres to the grant report guidelines and includes
goals for the next year, noting any changes from the original approved
work plan. |
